A Nuff Is Enough!

Welcome, Word Worms! 🪱

The different possibilities for pronouncing the letters ‘ough’ are legion 😖, and there are a ton of lists and funny poems out there to choose from to illustrate this.

I’ll share the with you in due course, but let me start with this one which offers a double whammy. It both illustrates a few of the pronunciation options and pokes fun at the craziness of it all at the end of each couplet’s second line.

Say it out loud and tell us in the comments in the Facebook group how you did! In fact, I think I’ll go over there and do that very thing, just nough, I mean now! 😆

William Thomas Goodge was born in London in 1862 but got a place on an Australia-bound vessel 20 years later, jumped ship and then got into journalism. He wrote a genre that became known as ‘bush poetry’ but this one here is pure king’s kooky English and a fine example of it too!
