What Is This Place?
This place is a celebration of language. There’s a lot to celebrate.
Words are manmade constructions used to represent something else, such as an animal or a plant, a rock, a colour, a certain weather condition, a particular emotion or a piece of furniture. As such they are open to interpretation.
A word can mean different things to different people, or nothing at all, if it’s not a language they understand.
A single word can also have various meanings which you can mess around with as much as you like.
What’s more, if there’s something you want to describe and you can’t find a word for it, you can invent your own. I do so frequently! If enough people like it, it might catch on
The possibilities are endless and I’m constantly amazed, intrigued and best of all amused by what wily wordweavers get up to.
Hotch Potch is where I share with you all my favourite fun finds, which may include poems, clever prose, sly memes, witty cartoons or any other sort of wicked word play. I might even include some of my own stuff here if I think it merits it.
As a famous egghead once informed us:
“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.”
Let’s see how far we can take this thing!
